The Concierges' Gazette

Going out in October

Exhibitions

Derain, Balthus, Giacometti. An artistic friendship: this is the previously unseen exhibition presented by the Musée d’Art moderne until October 29th. It explores the relationship between these 3 major artists of the 20th century by showing more than 350 pieces coming from the leading private and institutional collections around the world.

The Jacquemart André museum presents The Hansen’s Secret Garden, the Ordrupgaard collection. An exceptional collection (unique in Europe) and some relatively unknown-in-France treasures, from Corot, Manet, Cézanne, Pissaro, Sisley, Monet, but also Renoir or Morisot. Until January 22nd.

To celebrate the centenary of his birth, the Grand Palais highlights Irving Penn. One of the greatest photographers of the 20th century, famous for his portraits of celebrities like Pablo Picasso, Yves Saint Laurent, Audrey Hepburn or Alfred Hitchcock. Until January 29th.

Opera

The Opéra Bastille presents Don Carlos, composed by Verdi in the “Grand Opéra” French style. A drama of jealousy, a passionate tragedy, a betrayal… Don Carlos is all at the same time. But by confronting Carlos’ idealistic aspirations and the authoritarianism of the king, it can also be seen as a political work (even if the plot is a fiction). From October 10th.
