The Musée d’Art Moderne presents Almost Human, the first retrospective dedicated to Thomas Houseago in France. It retraces the evolutions of his work, from his 1990s creations to his latest realizations. With materials like wood, plaster, metal, concrete or bronze, he represents the human figure in space. Until July 19th.
The Musée Jacquemart-André pays tribute to the Danish master Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864 – 1916). Forty of his works unveil his mysterious and poetic universe and show the variety of his creations, from the first portraits to the nudes, architectural views and landscapes, not to forget an extraordinary series of interiors. Until July 22nd.
The East is honored at the Musée Marmottan Monet until July 21st with the exhibition L’Orient des peintres, du rêve à la lumière. About fifty works from famous European painters like Gérôme, Landelle, Vallotton, Migonney, Bernard, Matisse, Klee shows how the visit of the fantasized East became an initiatory journey for them and inspired unprecedented works.
For some it is a marvelous tale for children, for others the most ardent meditation on the human condition: Mozart’s last opera is played at the Opera Bastille until June 15th. Robert Carsen as a director reveals a very elegant and refined Magic Flute, a jewel of darkness taming Death to make it our dearest friend, reassuring and comforting.
Citron, located at the Galeries Lafayette of the Champs Elysées, is the new restaurant of the young fashion designer Jacquemus in collaboration with Caviar Kaspia. A Mediterranean cuisine in a nice decor with a carte offering lemonade, Niçoise salad, pissaladière, sardines in oil, crudités basket, tomatoes and peppers tart… – 60 avenue des Champs Elysées, Paris 8th.
Albert Corre has left Le Petit Pergolèse, taken over by Alexandra Damas. Black slate, red leather benches and contemporary artworks set the stage to taste: artichoke carpaccio with preserved tomatoes and parmesan; roasted cod with quinoa and its truffle juice vinaigrette; rack of lamb roasted with rosemary and as a dessert: île flottante with its vanilla crème anglaise or Grand Marnier soufflé. 38 Rue Pergolèse, Paris 16th.
