A “Guinguette Chic” themed summer bar

The Saint James Paris sets the tone for a truly French epicurean summer with its chic version of a “guinguette” in its garden. The entire terrace will be adorned with colored lanterns, authentic oak barrels, wildflowers and red-and-wite checked tablecloths. These open-air cafés with music often settled the banks of the rivers around central Paris, the Seine and the Marne, at the end of the 19th and early 20th century (just when the property was built!), and have been the theme of many paintings, among which Renoir’s famous Déjeuner des Canotiers.

For the occasion, Virginie Basselot has imagined delicious simple dishes, in the spirit of the “guinguette”, made exclusively with French products: slide of country bread, foie gras from the Landes region and smoked duck breast fillet or mussels “marinières” in cream sauce, home-made French fries. For the dessert, you will enjoy Mathias Alet’s seasonal creations with the strawberries fantaisies or the fresh iced red-fruit-cup “chic guinguette”.

To calm your thirst, our head sommelier Micaël Morais put together a very refreshing selection with references from small producers that will make your summer nights sparkle: red wines like Moulin à vent 2014, Domaine des Terres Dorées, Jean-Paul Brun or white like Santeney, 2014, Domaine Jean-Marc Vincent. The Taittinger Champagne will also be in the theme with “Les Folies de la Marquetterie”.

At the bar, Judicaël Noël offers you a selection of Parisian brewed beers (!) and 3 cocktails made with aged French alcohols: the P’tit Comptoir with the St Germain liquor, or the Barrell Guinguette with the Gin de Paris, distilled in the capital.

The Guinguette Chic offer is available at the bar of the Saint James Paris from mid-May to mid-September, daily from 7pm.

Come join us and enjoy our summer themed-bar, so typically Parisian!
